What is a hearty meal to serve a construction working husband?

My boyfriend is a concrete worker and most of the meals i know how to make are simple and not that filling for him. Are there any good meals that anyone could suggest that i can make for him? I need a whole meal not just a recipe.. cuz im bad at thinking about what to serve with things! lolWhat is a hearty meal to serve a construction working husband?
Seems like most men are meat and potato type of people.

Why not use your grill and cook some herbed lemon chicken, steak, jerk chicken, swordfish steaks, pork chops, grilled veg's, stuffed baked potatoes, oven roasted potatoes and fennel.

7 Minute Dinner - Chicken, Veggies, Rice:

Among my favs are chicken and dumplings.

Use whole chicken breasts on the bone. You simply boil them until the meat is about to fall off. Toss in some herbs too, like sage, a little rosemary, and maybe some garlic.

The dumpling recipe:

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon white sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon margarine

1/2 cup milk

DIRECTIONS

Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in medium size bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in milk to make a soft dough.

Drop by spoonfuls into boiling broth. Cover and simmer 15 minutes without lifting lid. Serve.

Gravy is so easy:

Take a cupful or so of the broth from the chicken pot. Pour into a sauce pot and heat to boiling, add two chicken bullion cubes, and slowly add flour while mixing. I like to use an electric hand mixer like a Braun. Don't let the flour congeal or stick to the bottom of the pot. Turn down the heat as it begins to thicken. Add pepper to taste.

Serve that up with some gravy and veg on the side, and he'll be a happy camper.
Well there are lots of recipes that are hearty, filling and one pot, luckily for you. If I were you, I'd go with something like a stew or roasted chicken with roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. Nothing too hard to think up and relatively easy to do and very very filling. If you're still having trouble go on google or just think of recipes that you found hearty and filling as a child or something.
The most hearty thing I remember was the ';goulash'; my gramma made. It was really just leftover homemade mac-n-cheese mixed with her homemade sloppy joe's and a jar of her stewed tomatoes.

You can do the same thing without the homemade stuff.

Just brown the ground beef with some lipton's onion soup mix, add cooked macaroni noodles and a jar of canned tomatoes (they even have flavored canned tomatoes). You can add shredded cheese while it's warming to make it even more filling.

Gramma served it with a side of green beans, but I'm more into fresh veggies now. You won't need anything more, trust me!
Meal option 1: Meat and potatoes are always hearty. Try rib-eye steak broiled in the oven served on a bed of spinach. On the side, make scalloped potatoes with melted cheese on top.

Meal option 2: Breakfast pasta (for anytime of the day). It's a one pot meal that is filling yet packed with proteins to energize your man for his day. Add cooked spaghetti noodles to a sauce of olive oil and fresh garlic. At the last second, scramble up some eggs and add to the mixture. Top with parmesan cheese.
Chicken Divan

2 (10-ounce) packages frozen broccoli, chopped

6 cups shredded chicken, cooked

2 (10 3/4-ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup sour cream

1 cup grated sharp Cheddar

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon curry powder

Salt and pepper

1/2 cup dry white wine

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan

1/2 cup soft bread crumbs

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove the outer wrappers from the boxes of broccoli. Open 1 end of each box. Microwave on full power for 2 minutes, until thawed. Drain the broccoli and put into a casserole dish. Add the shredded chicken.

In a medium bowl, combine the soup, mayonnaise, sour cream, Cheddar, lemon juice, curry powder, salt and pepper, to taste, and wine. Whisk together to make a sauce. Pour the sauce over the broccoli and chicken. Mix well with a spatula.

Place the mixture into an 11 by 7-inch casserole dish or 2 (9-inch) square disposable aluminum foil pans that have been sprayed with vegetable oil cooking spray. Pat down evenly and smooth with a spatula. Combine the Parmesan, bread crumbs and butter and sprinkle over the top.

Bake for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Lazy Day Potato Pancakes

3 陆 cups frozen hash brown potatoes

2 large eggs

录 cup grated onions or 陆 tsp onion powder

1 tsp seasoned salt

陆 tsp black pepper

2 tablespoons of cracker crumbs (I use corn flake crumbs)

Combination of butter and olive oil for frying

Place the frozen hash browns in the bowl of a food processor. Use the steel blade and process with an on and off motion until the potatoes are finely chopped or cut up by hand with a knife. Leave the potatoes in the food processor while you crack the eggs into a large bowl and beat them with a fork or whisk until they鈥檙e fluffy. Stir in the grated onion and the salt and pepper. Mix in the cracker crumbs.

If you used a food processor dump the potatoes on a cutting board. Blot them with a paper towel to get rid of any moisture. Then add them to the mixture in the bowl and stir them in.

If the mixture in your bowl looks watery, add another tablespoon of cracker crumbs to thicken it. Wait for the cracker crumbs to swell up and then stir again. If it鈥檚 still too watery, add another tablespoon of cracker crumbs. The resulting mixture should be thick, like cottage cheese.

Place the butter and olive oil in your frying pan. Once the oil and pan are hot measure to drop in the batter in the pan. Keep the pancakes about two inches apart, and cover the bottom of the frying pan with them. Flatten them very slightly with a spatula or you spoon so the potatoes spread out and don鈥檛 hump up in the middle.
