Any suggestions for gifts to give the aspiring chef? My husband is really getting into cooking!?

He has been experimenting lately and turns out, he is amazing!! I want to keep encouraging him and am trying to think of the perfect, or mulitiple, gift(s).Any suggestions for gifts to give the aspiring chef? My husband is really getting into cooking!?
Bon Appetite is good reading and inspires new ideas. so get him some what i call look like little cookie cutters there for making shapes out of different food the garnishes will inspire him so try and find a good book on making things out of food and maybe see if he is interested in ice carving he can make his own small ice blocks at home or you could get him some ice molds even cake pans can be used to make ice sculpters. add the ice sculpters to like a punch bowlor whatever he wants to use them for. if he dosent have a good smoker belive me he will love a nice big smoker big enough for a briskit and get somwood chunks of different typs to go along with it and maybe a bottle of liquid smoke just in case he might want to try it. he will not want a gas smoker belive me. and a nice carving set will be a good idea its just a fork and knife in a nice case and get him a steal to keep it sharp the best steal iv seen is flat not round and its a diamond steal youll have to get it at a resturant supply stor its about 60 bucks but he will love it the round ones are nice but not as nice as the flat ones. a good hobart style mixer would be awsome and get all the atachments for it ya there a bit costly around 2 or 3 hundred dollors but he would love it. i collect old cooking items so you might look around at fleamarkets for old toasters and mixers that he can display in the kitchen these are for looks but should also work. ok i hope iv given you some new ideas and tell him chef dave says keep up the good work and remember cooking is an art to us its more then just good food so keep that in mind we want to please your palate and your eyes. daveAny suggestions for gifts to give the aspiring chef? buy a set of emeril cook ware pots and pans these are very nice and heavy duty. can be found at nebraska furniture mart, bed bath and beyond or linens and things or buy at www.emeril food network.
Cookbooks--really good ones. Even a subscription to Bon Appetite or another magazine (Southern Living always has great recipes).
Get him an electric programmable pressure cooker. They are fun, safe, fast and an awesome cooking tool where you can prepare foods in about a third of the time compared to conventional cooking. Modern P/cookers too are completely safe not like back in the 40's and 50's when they could explode. Also a great set of professional knives.
Does he already have good knives? I once got a nice 10'; chefs knife in my stocking one year and it was the best gift ever. A big gift could be a panini press, a tortilla press, Le Creuset pots and pans, a hand blender, cooling racks for baking, good cutting boards, a food processor with attachments like for pasta and shredding, a counter-top deep fryer with side by side baskets, a grill pan for the stove (with the ridges), a kitchen scale, cast iron skillets, wow so many things I have just looking around!





For the little gifts, there are hand juicers, little strainers, spoon rests, a bowl to put kosher salt in for the top of the stove, wooden spoons, nice rubber spatulas, oh and TWO digital timers! I can't live without my two timers. They're both Polders, and one has a rope on it so if you're doing something else in another room, you can hang it around your neck. Very cool!
I love to cook, and the top 3 best gifts I have ever received were a good set of knives (as many others have mentioned), a food processor, and a kitchenaid mixer.
He would probably like a chef outfit with his name embroidered on it, with the hat and everything, perhaps in a fancy nice color other than white. If he has any favorite animal, ingredient, flower or spice, you may embroider it next to his name to make it his symbol or trademark.

I am assuming that since he already cooks he has pots and pans and knives. Get him gagets that he might use to broaden his culinary pallet... A fish spatula, good tongs, potato ricer, pastry bags and tips, recipe books, sushi mats and rice cooker a good meat thermometer. If its the grill he likes to use alot, get barbque mops and different bbq sauces.
hi i had the same passion b4 kids came along ,try buying a wok set and a assorted bunch of herbs and spices.hint to him if you will all ways use fresh herbs and spices.good luck so what you gonna do for him.hes a man u know what he likes.you no longer have to b a cook in the kitchen so why not a whore in the bedroom.lol
My husband is a really great cook and has been asking me for a really big wok lately. Maybe that's an idea.
I agree on getting him a Gift Subscription for a Food Magazine- there are a lot of good ones out there.





My Mom %26amp; I bought my Husband a deep Lasagna pan (it has handles %26amp; higher sides than others do) which he loves + one of my Cosuin's sent him a ';Complete Grilling Utensil Set'; in a waterproof case which was used all Summer!

Another idea is a new cookbook. my dad loves to cook and he always enjoys getting a new cookbook, especially if it has cuisine form a different country or culture.


Also, a lot of culinary institutes provide one day classes on the weekends. They are usually a lot of fun and might teach him some new technique and get his creative juices flowing. Some classes are designed for two people, so you could go along and they usually feed you too!

I would maybe try and keep it to a theme. Such as getting him a barbeque set and a new grill and maybe a bulk amount of meat or other grillable items to try new recipes, if he likes outdoor cooking. Or if you buy him a great set of pots, pick him up some cook books to go along with it. Or you could get him a slow cooker with a recipe book to go along with it. If he is just starting out, go to your local community college or park district and see if they offer some cooking classes....or some type of class that offers cooking techniques. You might even be able to take the classes together...it may give him a real boost if you show interest as well!!
