What does my puppy think me and my husband are? Does she think we are her mom and dad?

I know this is a stupid question but I've always wondered what dogs think their owners are just members of their pack or their mom and dad? I'm just always fascinated at what dogs think.What does my puppy think me and my husband are? Does she think we are her mom and dad?
you are veiwed as pack members... preferrably you are viewed as leaders, but not always the case!





If you refer to yourselves as ';mommy and daddy'; to the dog, the dog is only learning that is what you call yourselves. He does not really veiw you as his ';mother';.What does my puppy think me and my husband are? Does she think we are her mom and dad?

Well, once a puppy is grown up, he does not view his mother as mom anymore by nature. She's just another member of the pack. And the father rarely has any involvement with the pups after mating. So dogs just don't think in terms of ';parents';.





They do, however, think in terms of the ';pack'; and their ';pecking order'; in said pack. If you've raised her right, she will consider herself the bottom of the pack, and that you are her masters, or ';alphas.'; This is not cruel, it's good thing! When you are your dog's alpha, they tend to be less aggressive and stressed, and more loving and respectful.
I think they just think you are members of their pack. I don't think they think in terms of ';mom'; and ';dad'; like humans do. I'm sure they understand that ';mom'; is just the major caregiver and has the food. In nature ';dad'; doesn't have a whole lot of involvement. Once puppies grow up, they don't see ';mom'; the same way, I have even seen moms and sons mate and/or fight, same with daughters and fathers.


This is just my opinion though
They think of you as their pack leader/ the alpha dog.

Some people sees their dogs as 'their babies', dogs see us as the alpha dog, unless you threat your dog as a baby, chances are the dog will think he's the alpha dog, he'll be dominating you... ;)
Dogs dont think ';mom and dad'; they think pack, hopefully you are the pack leaders to the dog.
i think that they think your their companion or the leader/alpha in the ';pack';...alot of the other people that answered have good answers too.
