we bought these plots years ago and i lost the paperwork. All I know is that they were purchased in or around the 70's.How do I find a Cemetery plot I and my husband purchased in Virginia?
I don't know which town you live in, but I would have to imagine the options are limited to under 20. Pick up the phone, call the sexton's office and see if they have the records of your purchase. The funeral/cemetery industry is extremely well regulated. The amount of paperwork they're required to keep today is mind-numbing. Whomever sold you the plots filed a lot of paperwork. Now it's just a matter of calling them all til you find the right center. How do I find a Cemetery plot I and my husband purchased in Virginia?
what a morbid question. geez
Categorize correctly. Categorize your question in the appropriate category - you will receive better and more relevant answers.
That said, switchboard.com yellow pages should show you current cemeteries in the city you lived in then to begin your research.
'hook up'='connect' with the 'rector' of the cemetery--he's the record keeper of/for the cemetery---to find out who he is,and how to contact him---consult with a local funeral director whose business requires him to have at least time to time dealings with that cemetery!!!
how did you pay for them?? if by check then you may be able to track that check that far back. then again the 70's I was a baby and don't know how banks kept their records then. Otherwise, I think you can only try to remember what town it was in and start phoning the cemetaries.....
