Can a husband and wife be police officers for the same city or county?

We live in Tennessee, but I didn't know if that was a general rule or if it varied by place. Can a husband and wife be police officers for the same city or county?
I am also in TN. In our dept, you can. If you work at the same station, you'll be on diff shifts, and one won't be in a supervisory position over the other.

What area of TN are you?Can a husband and wife be police officers for the same city or county?
Check with your local police department for the correct answer. There may be statutes that govern each state, I don't know.
It depends on the state. A call to the non-emergency number at your police and sheriff's departments can answer your question.
We have a pair of those in my town already, so the answer must be yes. They work together in the same PD.

The wife is a sarge and boy she sounds like a drill sarge over the phone! The husband is far more polite and friendly with citizens
Yes. Where I worked, it was quite common. They just couldn't work in the same district.
Sure, but usually not at the same station, or on the same platoon (shift).

I pity the poor officer in TURANDOT's answer, that guy must be henpecked. Or she's his superior!!
Varies I would imagine. We have a pair on the S.O.
Yes its under cover work
It depends on town or agency rules and regulations. We have several married couples in our department. It usually isn't a problem as long as neither of them is a direct supervisor of the other. If they are the same rank, or they work different assignments, I think most departments don't typically have a problem with it.
